It’s that time of the year when people will be deciding on their resolutions for the new year. I personally have had many New Year’s resolutions over the years. I’ve even managed to come up with some good ones that seemed achievable for me.
But…. a year is a long time. To say that you’re going to do something for a year or for the rest of your life is a big task; a daunting task. At least to me it is. I’m not sure that I’ve ever even remembered my New Year’s resolution for a whole year, let alone actually stuck with one for a whole year.
The more that I have thought about this, the more that I have realized that a New DAY’S resolution is actually more my speed. I can make it through a day doing something and if I think I can handle it for another day, I can add a day! Or I can even schedule a day later on; not necessarily consecutive days.
For instance, I am always trying to eat more healthy foods. My New Day’s resolution could be “tomorrow I am going to eat healthy foods all day.” Say that I make it through the end of the day and am still eating healthy food and feeling good about it. I could have the same resolution for the next day.
Maybe this is lame, but it works for me. Adios to New Year’s resolutions!
